As the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series draws closer, leaks have started to intensify. The latest to hit the rumor mill mentioned the next Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series could bring a ‘blood sugar monitoring’ sensor on board.

The update comes from Pulse, a Korean publication, suggesting Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series could gain a blood sugar monitoring feature. Although Samsung did mention the feature in its press release, it never mentioned the Galaxy Watch 7 series as the first device to adopt it.

Samsung along with many of its rivals including Apple is making strides to introduce critical health tracking features on its wearable devices. With blood sugar or blood glucose monitoring, Samsung should be able to leap forward with a non-invasive method to detect current blood sugar. Since the feature is non-invasive, there won’t be any need to pierce with a needle to extract blood making it convenient for those with or without diabetes to keep track of their blood sugar.

The report mentions Samsung’s SVP Hon Pak who quoted blood sugar monitoring features across wearable devices in the future. As the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series is getting ready for its big reveal at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, rumor has it that it will pick up this feature as well.

Note that it remains to be seen whether the entire Galaxy Watch 7 series gets the upgrade or it’s just the ‘Ultra’ that gets the feature onboard. For the uninitiated, there are three models to be rolled out under the Galaxy Watch 7 series including the vanilla and the purported Ultra that has been rumored for a while.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 has already been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website certified with Bluetooth v5.3 and LE. It is reportedly rolling out with a 3nm SoC making it the first device to get the new chipset that promises a 50% increase in power efficiency and ultimately, performance.
